wp_insert_term

Добавляет новый элемент таксономии (термин, рубрику) в базу данных.

Можно задать связь нового элемента с уже существующим (сделать его дочерним, см. параметры).

Перед вставкой термина, функция проверяет существование таксономии и термина с таким же названием, и наличие других конфликтов и ошибок. Если нет ошибок, то термин сначала будет вставлен в таблицу терминов в БД, а затем привязан к указанной таксономии.

Возвращает

Массив/WP_error. В массиве возвращаются значения двух полей таблиц: array(‘term_id’=>12,’term_taxonomy_id’=>34).

Изменить значения уже вставленного термина.

Аргументы параметра $args

alias_of(строка) (обязательный)
Строка (слаг), которая будет алиасом нового термина. 
description(строка) (обязательный)
Описание термина (рубрики).
parent(число)
Родительский термин для вновь вставляемого.
slug(строка)
Слаг (название в URL) нового термина.
По умолчанию: sanitize_title($term)

Перед вставкой автоматически проверяем и получаем ID родительского термина “fruits”:
